I made a little 5 piece series
of mixed media collages that will be up for sale tomorrow
at my Etsy shop.
They will be sold unframed and unmatted.
Signed and titled by me :)
I framed one just to show you how pretty it would look on the wall .
I will also be adding some more cards and tags
and on the second week of September a couple of watercolor originals
in case you are interested.

Studio update & fun

I took all the sand out my little sandbox today
and hung it on my studio wall.
I love the way it looks with all my favorite journals
and post cards. It's my little personal gallery.
The little table in the corner
is one of the new nightstands for the boys,
but it doesn't fit in their room right now,
so I'll be using it till we move to our new house :)
Manolo designed it.
It has a little drawer and the wood he used this time is called Tzalaam,
it looks a bit like walnut.
We still have to put hardware on it to be able to open the little drawer.
We went on a little trip to Mexico City today,
and visited my favorite Library.
This is my son Daniel, reading some "quality" literature (Garfield) :P
It's the Rosario Castellanos library in La Condesa neighborhood.
One of my all time favorite places to visit in the city.

Mini totes for mini girls

I made these tiny totes
as gifts for my tiny friends
Larissa & Alexia (ages 7 & 5 respectively).
Even little girls
need little totes to carry all their stuff :)
Thank you for all the support
for the opening for my Etsy shop,
you guys are the best!
Gigi of The Roadside Scholar
wrote a beautiful article about my work today,
you can read it here.
Thanks Gigi!

Pile o'wood

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
A woodchuck would chuck as much wood
as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Yay! this is post #300!
This pile o'wood
was inspired by a photo I took today
on a walk our family took this afternoon.
I got the idea from a comment by my friend Carlene,
who said the photo looked like a painting :)
I thought....hhhmmm.
It's watercolor on paper.

I wanted to thank you guys
for all the uplifting and encouraging comments
you've left me these past few days.
I am overwhelmed with joy
and deeply thankful for all of your kindness.
A great big hug to all of you who visit :)

Handmade goodness

This is a little patchwork tote
for a little friend's birthday.
The tote is lined with hot pink polka dot cotton.
The flower is made with brown and turquoise wool felt.
This is a 32 ft. fabric flag banner for saturday's baby shower.
I cut the triangles with pinking shears
and joined them
with orange single fold bias tape.
And finally,
this little patchwork changing pad
to put inside the baby shower tote
for my friend Mariana.

Birdsmobile

This wool felt "birdsmobile"
is another gift
I'll put inside my friend Mariana's baby shower tote
I made the birdies out of wool felt
& embroidered them by hand.
The strings are leather cords with some bone beads.
I stamped the tag
with one of my own hand carved stamps
& did some flowers
with acrylic ink.

New stamps on the block

The new stamps
making themselves comfortable
in the wooden stamp box.
The box is full and I'm on the lookout for a new one.
This beautiful paper is made
from a 100% mixture of post consumer paper
and the by-product of the tobacco plantations
of Central America.
Using one ton of tobacco fibre
saves an estimated 17 trees.
